BOP stack for our customers in Gabon

The production of BOP stack for our customers in Gabon has been finished. The testing is under witness of DNV.

The BOP stack is the assembly of drilling-control equipment connected to the top of the casing head. The basic items of the BOP stack are blind ram preventer, pipe ram preventer, annular preventer, drilling spool, kill line, choke flowline, bell nipple, and fill line.

A blowout preventer is a large, specially designed valve that is mounted on top of the well during the drilling and completion stages of operation. The operator can close this valve to stop the flow of oil or gas in case of emergency.

The blowout preventer, or BOP, is safety equipment designed to prevent uncontrolled flow of formation fluids during drilling and completion operations. During drilling, mud is pumped down the drill string to lubricate and cool the bit, and provide equalizing pressure in the well. If the well’s hydro-static pressure falls below the formation’s pressure, a kick can occur, allowing gas, oil, and saltwater fluids to enter the well bore.

The blowout preventer is comprised of four main components, stacked one upon another. They are the annular preventer, blind ram, blind shear ram, and the pipe ram. There can be many different configurations, sizes, and pressure ratings, dependent on well design, formation pressures, and areas of use. The BOP is attached to the steel casing that is cemented around the well bore. The drill string is suspended through the center of the well bore.

BOPs come in a variety of styles, sizes, and pressure ratings.

An annular blowout preventer is a large, specialized BOP used to seal, control and monitor oil and gas wells. It is usually installed above the ram preventers that forms a seal in the annular space between the pipe and wellbore or, if no pipe is present, over the wellbore itself.

A RAM BOP seals the well itself, preventing oil from escaping and foreign materials from getting in. It also allows for a controlled flow of oil when necessary.

These crucial parts for BOPs include flanged crosses, drilling spools, male and female adapters, and more for building and repairing quality BOPs. The equipment can be customized to fit whatever you may need for a BOP.

The accumulator is the main control unit of a blowout preventer. It is responsible for the control of all systems that interconnect in preventing emergency situations. It is activated based on hydraulic pressure. The accumulator houses hydraulic reservoirs, control valves, pumps, control manifold, and compressed gas bottles among other features. An accumulator is usually mounted on the top of the BOP stack. This helps to avoid breakdown, as the accumulator provides power for other BOP units to run during system failures.

All of these components work together to ensure ease and safety of drilling. BOPs are built in different capacities for different drilling requirements. Some are used for land wells, others for offshore rigs, and a third-class for subsea wells. In conclusion, BOP control is very important in avoiding breakdown of the system.
